BEGIN DESIGNING YOUR DREAM TODAY!

Designing your Dream begins as soon as you contact Robert.  It's a simple process:

  1. Begin an ongoing dialogue with a 'getting to know each other' meeting.
  2. Accept the proposal provided by Robert to Design your Dream.
  3. Design your Dream through continued dialogue and sketch reviews.
  4. Complete approved Construction Drawings for Permitting, Bidding and Construction.
  5. Begin construction!

If you leave a message, send him a text or an email, Robert will get back in touch with you in short order and begin a dialogue to learn the scope and nature of your project and to explain how he can help you make your dream reality.  He will arrange a mutually convenient meeting in person to further discuss your needs and to show you the kind of work he does.  With both parties coming to a clearer understanding of what the one wants and how the other can help, a unified vision of the possibilities can emerge.  From this initial conversation until you hang the curtains, you can be assured that you have invited an experienced construction and design ally to join your team.

The initial meeting typically lasts an hour or two. Robert will listen as you go over the scope of the Project you want done and ask you questions along the way to ensure that he is hearing your wants and needs correctly. After hearing about your visions,  Robert will help you better understand some of the construction costs involved along with some of the unforeseen problems that can go along with any design and construction project.  His initial goal is to make sure you are aware of what is involved and to help you make the wisest decision possible on moving forward.

After the initial meeting, Robert will return to his studio and engage his mind and imagination on your behalf -- providing you with a detailed Proposal of the Scope and phased costs of the Design Work to be done, for your approval or refinement.  If necessary, particularly for commercial projects, he will consult his team of specialized engineers—structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and civil.

When you and Robert have agreed upon the Proposal, you will together begin to develop the Design to best help you realize your dream. There will be sketches at first, with advice from you so that he is developing the building you have in mind. Then a refinement phase and then Construction Drawings the detailed map to your dream.

Robert is also available on an hourly basis as an architectural consultant providing a variety of services—perhaps you would like a second opinion, another point of view, a different approach. Robert regularly advises clients relocating their businesses from one facility to another.  Restaurateurs take advantage of his experience, knowledge of building codes and foresight before installing their equipment into an existing commercial space—Robert can help you discern the scope and cost of such a project before you commit to the costs of retrofitting a building. With his knowledge of building codes, health department standards and accessibility requirements, Robert can help you understand what you may be getting involved in before you spend construction dollars needlessly.

Robert will stay with you throughout the Design, Schematics and the Construction Drawing phases; he will advise you through the bidding phase, and he can assist you through the construction process, serving as a liaison between you and the contractor.  He is able to apply his design expertise as your interiors come to life so that your walls, carpets, counters and windows create the environment you need to live your best life or do your best work.

Robert will work as your ally from beginning to end, from dream to reality.  Robert takes pride in helping owners understand constructions costs realistically; he is honest and up front about real costs.  He will help you form an accurate picture about final expenditures and what you can get for what you are willing to spend.  Robert will not design a project you can’t build, whether it is economically unfeasible, geographically unwise or structurally unsound.   Because Robert has actually built houses and has been at home on construction sites since he was a child accompanying the original Bob Hess to work, he knows how to wield a hammer as well as a pencil.  He will help you Design an achievable Dream in a practical, realistic and affordable way.
